Inktober 2nd
2nd day of Inktober! Some kind of knight-inspired warrior dude. (keeping with an apparent sword theme)
Just announced at the Vertigo panel at San Diego Comic Con, I'll be doing the pencils on the new series SLASH & BURN, with Si Spencer writing, Ande Parks inking and Nick Filardi on colors.

It will be launching this fall alongside 11 other new titles from Vertigo with some huge names attached. Going to be a blast. I'll provide more details when I can!

I am so happy I randomly stumbled unto your work today. It is such a good representation of what I am hoping to achieve some day. In particular, the way you draw women is something I am currently working on myself. That is, women who look like they are actual warriors kicking butt and taking names instead of mere pretty arm candy. That is, sexy AND empowered. You are one of the only artists I've found that actually does that. I even had to add you under my "favorites/influlences" (only 2 others). Anyways, point is you're an incredibly inspiring artist that makes me want to draw even more. Thanks for that and keep up the good work!

P.S. - what do you use to draw with? Is that pen, pencil, or computer?

hey that's extremely kind of you to say, very, very much appreciated!

Very flattered.

And all the linework is done with pencil (sometimes pens) and colors are done in Photoshop

Thanks so much for checking out my stuff!

Holy crap you are a awesome artist!  I cant believe it has taken me so long to discover such a damn good artist, I'm gonna hit myself for not finding out about you sooner!  seriously all your art work is awesome and I just browsed through your gallery and all your drawing left me awe struck.  If you wouldn't mind could you give someone who knows nothing about drawing some advice.  Like how did you learn how to draw?  Was it through books, videos, etc etc?  if you could tell me than I would be really honored and you would be beyond awesome!

Thanks so much! Really appreciate the kind words.
I bought a lot of books when I was younger, I think a couple that are really helpful are:

-Andrew Loomis' "Figure Drawing For All it's Worth"
-pretty much all of George Bridgeman's books are good as far as I'm concerned.

Start with those, get a sketchbook and use them like textbooks. Just copy and practice, copy and practice. Repetition is really helpful to get the feel to how to draw things.

Also  go to life drawing classes if you can (I wish I could go more) and just get out there with a sketch book and draw. Draw traffic lights, cars, people, etc. Anything and everything!

And always keep at it! You'll make breakthroughs and you'll also feel like you're not making progress.

I'm constantly practicing too, you can never stop!

Thank you so much for your advice!  Really happy an artist like you responded and I'll be sure to take your advice to heart.  Wish me luck on my journey to learn how to draw!
